| | Halstead eNews Halstead Fine Arts & Craft Festival in its 42nd year!
Each year the festival brings artist and hundreds of patrons to Shop Halstead! "We are almost out of booth space for artist" says Beth Ann Kingsley, Festival Director. Our artist keep coming back each year and we are filling up earlier each year with new exhibitors. We have been pleased with the positive involvement of our community too. It is really a great way for Halstead to "roll out the red carpet" for so many out of town visitors looking for special arts and crafts, says Kingsley. We have learned to staff our festival with many organization from Halstead, they in turn become Halstead Ambassadors for our festival! It's all about "small town hospitality," people come here for friendship and to socialize when shopping. Some of our artists have been here for almost everyone of the 42 years!
Three years ago the Board of Directors started making long term plans by adding a quilt show. The first year we displayed around 25 quilts, last year we ran out of racks to show quilts, with 60 plus on display. DawnEna Wiebe took charge of organizing the operation. She has done a wonderful job of building a quality show for quilters to display their work, says Kingsley. We encourage people to contact us by email ArtFair@HalsteadKansas.com or call Patty Jewett at 316-835-2929. Quilts can be dropped off at The Real Estate Company 227 Main. This year we have a live demonstration of a spinning wheel. This is a real education to see how our Old Settlers spun wool and hair into thread to make fabric and rugs, exclaimed Kingsley.
