Dragons About Halstead
We all know that Dragons and Halstead go hand in hand, and now we have a new twist to Dragon Mania this year. "We wanted to build the excitement, a prelude leading into the week of The Fine Arts and Craft Festival, what better way then to involve our merchants by getting creative," said Beth Ann Kingsley, Festival Director. We are asking our merchants to put a little of their trade into creating their own version of the Dragon! We leave it up to each business to develop a Dragon and place it outside their door and share it with everyone. It can be any size, any creation, just as long as the Dragon reflects their trade in the image. To participate it must be on display starting October 13 through October 18th, Fine Arts & Crafts Day. We want this fun as the prelude to this years festival, said Kingsley. Being creative with this project will provide some interesting Dragons. Can you imagine what a Hair Salon could do to create a Dragon!
For Dragon Fans, a vote can be made for your favorite work of art! Cast you vote at each merchant displaying their Dragon, Peoples Choice Award. All Dragons will also be judged by our visiting art teachers from the participation schools. Winner will be announced Saturday afternoon along with other awards at 3 p.m.
It's not too late for your business to participate, call Beth Ann at 316-835-2515 to enter.

Get ready for some great family music at the Fine Arts & Crafts Festival
If you like toe tapping Bluegrass Music, you will enjoy The Lay Family. They have been playing together on stage for about 2 years at various places such as festivals, picnics, churches, music barns, family reunions, private parties, schools, retirement communities (they absolutely love the family) and wherever possible. The family's goal is to be a blessing to those that hear the music & a motivation for any child, or adult, who has a desire to learn an instrument. Our motto is: "If we've made someone's day a little brighter, it was worth it all!" Said Ronnetta Lay.
